Master Your Emotions With The Power of Ancient Wisdom
The other day, I saw an interesting post from a successful entrepreneur, who shared vulnerably about how he has emotional ups and downs in his life. One week he is feeling great, getting a whole lot done. Then the next week he has “big emotions” that get him down, and make him unmotivated and unable to work as hard. He even shared that he takes medication to help him perform during these slumps.
The thoughts that came to my mind were first that it’s great that people are sharing so vulnerably. I think we all have these internal fluctuations going on whether we are aware of them or not, yet our culture is so focused on “doing” and achieving and it’s rarely discussed and truly validated.
Secondly, I thought about how useful it would be to people to have a higher, spiritual perspective on why these things happen to us.
Often we think there is no order or higher purpose to what happens in our inner life (beyond biology and seemingly random events that trigger our emotions). When it comes to our changing emotions and states, we think it’s all coincidence and certainly not purposeful.
As a psychologist I have always sought after models of our mental and emotional worlds that would make sense. However, I found many different theories and pieces of information that didn’t give me a very clear picture.
When I began to search for answers in authentic ancient wisdom, I was amazed to find that sages were able to transcend their self, and from that higher level of consciousness, to see their psychological processes much more clearly.
They discovered that our inner life is governed and determined by strict rules and is just as predictable as the natural world, and the laws of physics. The reason our emotions and thoughts seem chaotic or difficult to fathom to us, is that we can’t see ourselves clearly from within ourselves. We have to transcend the self, in order to see ourselves as clearly as we see and study biology, or physics which are levels of life/consciousness that are lower than our own.
But even if you haven’t yet achieved a higher level of consciousness, the teachings of the sages have a lot to give to us when it comes to understanding yourself better and alleviating a lot of your psychological challenges in our stressed out, material world.
What if for example, you knew, that the reason you feel a certain emptiness at the end of the day, even if you have achieved a lot, even if you have “Everything”, is because you are called to evolve to a higher level of being?
What if you knew that the reason you can’t really enjoy things you used to, or what your friends are still enjoying, is that you are ready for much bigger pleasure, of a higher quality?
What if you knew that the negative experience you had, or the emotional slump you felt were actually an invitation for you to grow and draw more light into your life (and you knew how to do it)?
Imagine if you could understand why you feel more heavy or sad one day, and wake up happy the next. Imagine clearly knowing what is driving your feelings and emotions, and how you can respond and participate in this process. (To read more about this click the photo below).

These are all the concepts that I have learned from authentic ancient wisdom that I am really wanting to share with you.
I have a vision for humanity, for human beings, to evolve into our fully conscious, enlightened state.
I believe this is what we need to learn in our time. A higher psychology that comes from a higher awareness of life.
This understanding of the purpose of our lives, and the role of emotions, thoughts and internal states will enable us to participate consciously in our very evolution.
