The Magic of Wearing Costumes

Almost every culture has an event or holiday with an opportunity to dress up, and that’s no coincidence. There is a very special spiritual root to this practice.

I remember my first Halloweens…When I was young I had spent a few years in the U.S while my dad did his post-doctorate studies.

One of these Halloweens arrived right after one of the bigger snowstorms Minnesota had seen! Our front door was blocked by snow. It was almost as high as me 🙂 I don’t think we went to school that day, or trick or treating either… but the snow was a lot of fun.

There were other Halloweens though when we did participate in the excitement. It’s such a magical time for kids.

Even as adults we enjoy these holidays that give us a chance to put on a costume, play pretend and bring some playful magic into our life.

So why do so many cultures do this?

When we play pretend, we enter the realm of what is possible. We play with possibilities beyond our current reality.

This is one of the central tools of manifestation!

I’m not talking about putting on a funny ghost costume one night a year…but rather playing at embodying the higher self that we want to become.

When we can “put on” the persona, behaviors, thoughts and feelings of our higher state of being, we pull it closer to us.

This is how nature works.

It’s how children grow. They see examples all around them, and they play at it They “fake it till they make it”, practicing walking, and talking until. they. do.

This is how spiritual growth happens too.

We visualize the state that we want to embody and then we play at it. We try to think, and behave like we are already there.

Creating and aiming ourselves at the most aligned and accurate vision for our growth is important to this process. This is why I am passionate about sharing with you what ancient wisdom explains to us about where evolution is taking us.

Knowing this, is the surest way to get our greatest potential fulfilled.

What we want is to enact our higher states of connection with each other, with everything around us, with life itself.

Because our growth is all about gradually embodying the traits of nature: interconnectedness, nurturing care, limitless love.

As the most evolved creatures on earth, we are here to consciously connect to the mind of Nature/God and experience that harmony and expansiveness through our own conscious work.

So whatever you are dressing up as this Halloween (comment below to let me know!) have fun, and don’t forget to put on your conscious connection costume too.

It’s the greatest way to become your highest, more evolved, happiest self.
